About Us

OUR HISTORY

1906

In the early 20th century, immigrants and pioneers began settling in northern Colorado. Some of these immigrant farmers were Swedish Lutherans, and in 1905, a small number of them gathered to form a community of Lutherans that began meeting in homes and schools and was established as a congregation in 1906.

From our original 49 members, Trinity Lutheran has grown and flourished along with the city of Loveland. In our 115-year history Trinity has grown from being a small congregation of Swedish settlers to a regional congregation that serves the people of Northern Colorado. Throughout our history, Trinity has ministered to the community by caring for our neighbors and proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. We have accompanied our members here at home through times of joy and sadness, and we have sent and supported missionaries throughout the world. The world is truly a better place because of Trinity.

Today, Trinity continues to care for our neighbors and proclaim Christ! We come together to worship and share the sacraments and we are sent out to serve our neighbors – and oh, how we serve! We serve food to the homeless at the Community Kitchen, we serve the needs of the community through House of Neighborly Service, we build homes through Habitat for Humanity, we serve families through Trinity Lutheran Preschool, and in 2016 we celebrated raising $500,000 for world hunger! It may not always be pretty or perfect, but it is faithful, and we are grateful to be God’s servants in this community.

OUR MISSION

Celebrate God’s Gifts

Every person is a child of God with unique blessings and gifts from our Lord Jesus Christ. Trinity is a place where all people, from young children to our most senior elders, are welcome to come discover, celebrate, and share their gifts and talents!

Proclaim God’s Word

The proclamation of God’s Word comes not only in worship and Bible study, but in every action we take. At Trinity, we are all ministers of God’s Word, taking messages of hope and healing into the classrooms, living rooms, and workplaces we enter each week. Proclamation is not just in our speaking alone, but also in our everyday actions!

Nurture God’s Family

Living out our faith in action, we are active in projects and ministries locally and around the world. Whether we serve meals at Loveland Community Kitchen or build houses with Habitat for Humanity in Nicaragua or Loveland, Trinity sees our involvement as answering God’s call to serve our brothers and sisters in need. We see all of God’s children as a part of God’s family!

OUR STAFF

Chris Davis

Pastor

I am a native of Northern Colorado. I grew up in Fort Collins and graduated from the UNC in Greeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance. I attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, from 2001-2005 where I received a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Youth and Family Ministry. Before becoming the pastor at Trinity I served as Senior Pastor at Atonement Lutheran in Lakewood, Pastor of Mission Development at Our Savior's in Greeley, and Pastor of Youth and Family Ministry at Grace Lutheran in Hermantown, MN. I love the fine arts, especially opera and musical theater, and am an avid fan of Colorado sports teams. When I’m not spending time with my wife, Rachel, and two young children, you can find me on my bike or playing my guitar. I am passionate about worship and sharing the good news of Jesus with people of all ages!

Marcia Green

Worship Director

I started playing piano and organ at Trinity when I was ten years old and haven't stopped yet. Over the years I have taught music in the public schools, but have always been involved in church music.
At Trinity, I get to work with the best people on earth - musicians! We are blessed with people of all ages and abilities who share their music. We encourage ``all of the music for all of the people.`` We can sing chants that have been sung for hundreds of years and also can play guitars, violins, bells, and kazoos. Music enriches our lives and gives glory to God!

Jennifer Kingrey

Parish Administrator

I’ve enjoyed being a part of the Trinity team since 2009.

Kaari Nieuwlandt

Minister of Faith Formation and Community Connection

For me, Northern Colorado is home. I grew up in Longmont, CO and did my undergraduate studies at Colorado State University (Go Rams!) where I majored in English with a concentration in Literature and minored in History. After graduating from CSU, I married my high school sweetheart, Walter, and we moved across the country to Berkeley, CA where I completed my seminary studies at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary! When I’m not at church, I love traveling with my husband (ask us about the trip we’re planning to the UK), reading (English major- go figure), cheering on the United States Women’s National Soccer Team, singing, trying to follow the latest happenings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and snuggling with our cats (Naboo and Nexu).
